L’Arche Halifax: The L'arche community in Halifax has been granted Project Status in L'Arche Canada. Cathy MacMillan, is the Founding Director.
L'Arche Atlantic: L'Arche Atlantic is one of four regions in Canada and is part of an international network of faith-based communities creating homes, day programs, and support systems with individuals with a developmental disability. The Atlantic Region currently has communities in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
L'Arche in Nova Scotia: L'Arche Halifax will make the fourth community in Nova Scotia, The others are L'Arche Cape Breton, L'Arche Antigonish and L'Arche Homefires in Wolfville.
L'Arche Canada: The L'Arche Canada Zone is the national organization linking the 28 L'Arche communities across Canada. The word L'Arche is French for the ark, referring to Noah's ark, the biblical symbol for refuge and deliverance, a place of safety.
L’Arche in the World: There are over 120 L’Arche communities in about 30 countries on 6 continents. All these communities are part of the International Federation of L’Arche Communities. The International Federation of L'Arche was founded in Trosly, France, the International Office is now located in Paris, France. L’Arche International’s priorities are: enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities; attracting and sustaining assistants; good stewardship; increasing L’Arche’s openness to the wider community; and solidarity amongst L’Arche communities
